Alan is the Director of Solutions Architecture for Worldwide Public Sector at Amazon Web Services. He has been with Amazon for nearly nine years, and he is responsible for enabling customer adoption of cloud for public sector customers worldwide. In previous roles at AWS, Alan was responsible for strategic partners, building a field CTO function, and building a Specialist Solutions Architecture team with deep domain expertise in areas such as geospatial information systems, high performance computing, and machine learning. Alan supports governments, educational institutions, academic medical centers, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, as well as space and satellite companies across the globe.
Prior to AWS, Alan spent most of his career at the intersection of homeland security and technology. He led technical teams building the Clear Registered Traveler, TSA Precheck, and TSA Secure Flight programs, to name a few. He holds a CISSP® as well as multiple AWS professional certifications. Alan has written and presented on networking and security topics throughout his career.
Alan is a graduate of Duke University, where he earned a degree in Network Communication and Information Security.
